little man

so my family is absolutely obsessed with baby cousin nick. he's number 23 in the creighan cousin line up and the first baby after a long long baby dry spell in the family so he's been absolutely smothered since birth. he also happens to be ridiculously adorable with massive baby cheeks and a super serious little face. my mom and i got him a little man outfit for christmas complete with red corduroys and a plaid shirt. his head looks so massive in those first few shots. i got to hang out with him when i went home a few weeks ago. i got to hang out with my whole family actually.

we went to see my brother's musical (he was the lead in thoroughly modern millie and he totally killed it. like boo ya, best ever, totally killed it. he was incredible.) baby nick came along and was incredibly good- like just sat and watched the whole thing/napped. like some little theater savvy man. then my mom made an awesome baller dinner and we played a bajilion games including just dance on wii (so much fun.) super good times hanging out with baby chubbers and other assorted pittsburgh family members. mad love.

More-drobe Monday

getting real up in here. this is what i'm wearing right now. yeah sure, i wore a moderately cute black and white striped dress to work today with black zig zag tights and secretary glasses necklace but someone brought in leftover cookie cake to the breakroom and i ate more than my fair share so that outfit came off as soon as i walked in the door. my stomach was literally going to burst. i slipped into a more casual ensemble of turquoise duck sweatshirt, trashy slippers, and gray lounge pants. obviously still very classy and put together. i mean, i pull it off preettttyyy well if we're being honest here. i still look like a major hottie. a regular jessica alba up in here.

sweatshirt: salvation army (for those curious about the frazzled duck on the front, she is wearing a ratty dressing gown with curlers in her hair (feathers?). the writing says "to hell with housework, I'm going to bingo." classic duck.)
pants: primark
slippers: primark

People I love Whursday

More-drobe Mhursday

so i think we've established that time-related posts aren't really my thing. i just totally lose track of the days. but i'm still making an effort. so . . . half credit? 5/8 a point?

this is what i wore to work today! i get pretty dolled up for my internship and then totally plummet to the bottom of the wardrobe spectrum on days i have class. sorry fellow students. the outfit is pretty black and white though i would love to experiment with some pop-y tights and a big ol' colorful belt. love the pattern of the dress though. and the length. and my shoes- i melt. love me some t-strap. and t-bone. steak. and mr. t. man. and sweet tea. i digress. both the shoes and the dress were recent salvation army finds. i've said it time and time again, but i still totally stand by it- central pennsylvania has the best thrifting i've come across. hands down. i always walk away with something. and that is why i will continue to always go home. that and my family. i guess they're a pretty big draw too.

dress- salvation army ($8)
shoes- salvation army ($8)
heart tights- primark
slip- salvation army
belt- salvation army
watch- gift from mother
necklace- i forget.
badass snake earrings- vintage stall in camden market, london

sleepy sunday

another addition of everyone's favorite public sleeping segment! this one is called:

the time i fell asleep at a muse concert

it was hot. there were ten thousand bajillion people in every direction. it was the second day of virgin festival (which sounds weird but really just a music festival sponsored by virgin mobile. it sounds like some kind of promise ring christian retreat thing though. or a weird old-timey sacrificial cult. but it's not, i swear.) anyway, i'm there with my friends and it's the middle of the afternoon and my energy levels are rapidly dropping. between rocking out all day yesterday and dealing with a flat tire the night before , plus the excitement of staying in a hotel (love hotels) which makes it difficult to sleep, i was drained yo.

my fellow-festival-going-friends are all like "oh man! muse! let's see muse!" i seriously don't care about muse on way or another. so while my comrades were getting all gooey over the band and searching for a spot to rock out, i sought out an appropriate napping space. i found it eventually. under the bleachers. away from the crowd and the sun (enemy to all pale kids). there were even a few other like-minded folks under there already, snoozing away. so while my friends got their groove on to the stylings of muse, i splet soundly for a solid 45 minutes. boo ya.

birthday fiesta

the ladies of the great place threw down in honor of a few special twenty-first birthdays. jonswifferdiffer, emilydiego, and yours truly all turned that magical legal age within a few days of each other. so naturally, to celebrate, we had a 1950's tupperware party. the rules are simple- dress like you're from the 1950's (think grease, hairspray, american graffiti, mad men- we cast the net pretty wide.) and drink out of tupperware (much easier and more convenient than we originally thought it would be.) everyone looked incredible (love me some 50's greaser dudes) and rocked out to the american graffiti soundtrack (shout out to papa weigel for getting me addicted to that at an early age) before switching to more classic party hits. (come on eileen was played two times. in a row.) we set up the bubble machine in the kitchen and i hung tissue paper pom poms from the ceiling and floral fabric on the walls.

my two best lady friends from home came to town looking gorgeous and helping me with everything. baby brother also rolled in and was IMMENSELY helpful. he even made waffles for us before the party. while wearing a very girly apron. high school homie thomas williams arrived on my doorstep two hours before the party and my gentleman caller came down for the weekend as well. all of my favorite people = totally present.

overall it was a glorious success. full of dancing (so much dancing), and great costumes, and excellent jungle juice (pat myself on the back). i was very affectionate throughout the evening partially because of the contents of my tupperware container, but also because i truly love all the people in my life. i know all the best people. excellent birthday.
