oh boy. faux bois.

those shoes. if they didn't feel like cheap cardboard slippers held together with scotch tape and a dream, i would buy them in a heart beat. seriously! look at that! you know i have a thing for fake wood! especially when it's something that would never ever in a thousand years be made out of wood. why would anyone think that's a wooden shoe? who are you trying to fool? so in love.

you think of everything

i love this song. and this version of this song. but the original. so good.

i feel very on edge. very happy. but very uneasy. there are too many variables. i like to deal with knowns. not bother with unknowns. too many questions marks and ellipses.

foodies

i feel like i've been doing quite a bit of cooking since i've gotten back to school. mostly recipes from the book my mom put together for me for christmas. i made mom's catalina chicken, aunt karen's chicken supreme, and judy's chocolate cake (you add coffee in the mix and its absolutely baller) with seven minute icing (didn't turn out as good as hers, but still delcious.) i also made roasted autumn vegetale chowder again. i could seriously eat that stuff all day. it's funny- i didn't cook at all when i was home, but as soon as i get back to school i'm in full-blown chef mode. weird.

new post, old photos

finally got my pictures scanned. it's not even a matter of getting them developed, it's scanning them in. because i'm too cheap to spring for the photo cd. damn straight. these guys came from several cameras: my diana mini, muh super sampler, and that old ass minolta camera i scored at salvation army. love love love.

donuts

my mom works with lady who has an adorable little girl named sammy. sammy's turning four next week and when he mom asked what she wanted for her birthday, sammy said "donuts". what kind of cake? "donuts." presents? "boxes of donuts." she's such an adorable little girl- little blonde pigtails and chubby cheeks. and i thought it was hilarious that she wanted donuts so i whipped up some felt ones for her birthday. super cute. i might have to make some for myself. . .

farm show round three

first of all, can i just say that i can't believe i went to the farm show three times this year. seriously. what is my problem. i know i'm a huge enthusiast of all things central pa- but three times? i need to get some more hobbies. also, the only thing better than looking at animals is looking at all the adorable babies and toddlers looking at animals. they talk to them and make adorable faces and i just completely melt. i started off trying to take subtle pictures of all the little cuties there but ended up just getting ballsy and snapping away. (if any of you are parents- how do you feel about strangers taking pictures of your kids? is that super weird and rude? they're just so cute!) i seriously feel like i have liz lemon syndrome. i just want to hold all these precious little people and kiss their little heads! so cute! and totally not creepy. at all.

homebase

oh colonial park diner. your food really is not that good. but you are open twenty-fo' seven. and you do not complain when we only order coffee. nor do you kick us out. the waitresses know us and laugh at our jokes. they also tell us what we want to order ("no you don't want a bagel- you want pea soup.") they are snarky and a little off but this is why we love them. thank you, for being there when our parents tell us we are too loud and we have to take it somewhere else. thank you for being there when we're strapped for cash and just want to enjoy each other's company. thank you for having that bubblegum machine at the front that dispenses those creepy animal eraser toppers. thank you for sobering up our friends when necessary. thank you for providing the setting to many of our important discussions and best inside jokes. thank you for giving us so many creamers so we can create beautiful ornate towers as we wait for our pickles and toast. i love you cpd. you and me. forever baby.

rollin' central pa style

tu friends lindsay, beth, and keiran came down for some 717-goodness. took them to my church's polka dance where we proceeded to tear up the gym floor alongside all our geriatric new pals. seriously though- dave was a beast with the polka. and theresa taught us some pretty sweet line dance moves. lindsay did have to dance (a slow, and very close dance if i might add) with a smelly creeper guy but overall it was a good time. there was a keg! and a buffet! and my mom was having a blast- she made all kinds of new friends. all the people were excited to see young people there too which was nice. i love elderly folks.
we hit up the diner afterwards then had a lil' slumber party. in the morning my mom made us a really nice breakfast (she's so cute). then fornwald and mike came over as well as fellow 717-ers corrie, jen, ellen, and thomas and we hit up the farm show. IT WAS PACKED. i have never seen it that crowded. it was insanity. there were some spots where you couldn't even move. but we got our milkshakes and bloomin' onions. julie bare made it down as well and we got to hit up pretty much all the hot spots. chickens, rabbits, pigs, goats, horses, etc. we got our boots waxed/shined by a cool boot guy. (that stuff smelled so good! and my boots look great!) we saw the butter sculpture and got free samples. we also got to hang out with miss audrey, jen's baby, who is the the most serious, adorable baby ever. she was really good the whole time despite the crowds or the fact that we were dragging her around for close to five hours (mad props jen and audrey!). we eventually crashed, went home, ate hummus, and watched youtube. excellent experience overall. made me miss temple though. only a week and we're back. . .
