so here's the deal: christine and i both have internships in the city for the summer (christine is interning here and i'm interning here; both are pretty baller) we're renting from my friend who is in india with her roommate. the location of the place is incredible- right in the heart of the italian market, above a mexican flower shop, two blocks from the famous pats&genos cheesesteaks. the rooms are big and we're enjoying having our own space (even if there isn't any air conditioning and we have to sit on the roof to get internet, which is what i'm doing now.) the problem was that the apartment's previous tenants were not very meticulous cleaners (the polar opposite in fact) and it was filthy when we moved in. not 'a few dust bunnies in the corner'; like legit 'armless monkey's lived here and then died and things rotted' filthy. cleaning was a nightmare and took forever; we still can't walk around barefoot without the soles of our feet turning completely black. there were bags of flour and cereal open; things spilled everywhere including something purple and congealed at the bottom of the fridge; and mouse turds everywhere. our rodent friends are still present though their food source has been severely cut. everything is sticky- i think it will always be sticky.

not for the faint of heart

trapped in an episode of hoarders
so- new apartment as 0% internet connection which makes blogging a little difficult. I'm going to try to find some wifi around my 'hood so i can keep ya'll updated on my summer. i have some serious horror stories from my cleaning endeavors thus far with the stomach-turning pictures to prove it. so until next post, keep your fingers crossed the the mouse who ate my bread stays the hell away from me and that my sketchy bed isn't home to any little bugs.

things i love as of may 10th, 2010
1. archer farms french vanilla almond crunch. my mom got it at target and i ate seven thousand bowls of it this weekend. so. good. it's like dessert.2. the fact that my mom snuck the rest of the box into my bag before i left. best surprise. best mom.
3. cruise control
4. turnpike scenery
5. my new samsonite suitcase
6. my baby cactus
7. summer plans
8. the prospect of living near fresh fruits and veggies
9. the prospect of being done with schoolwork and able to focus on doing things i want to do.
that's my whole thing now. i only want to do things i'm interested in doing. i'm dropping my business minor because macroeconomics and accounting bring me physical pain. i want to utilize my remaining time at college learning about things that interest me and will challenge me to think in new ways. and beyond classes, i just want to spend all of my time enjoying myself and being productive. i want to cross things off my to do list.
the end of days

honey everything's coming up roses

bloggy mcbloggerson;my pet. this is another situation in which i have been doing so much living, i have had little time for blogging. it's nothing personal; you are as enjoyable as ever. i just hardly have enough time to do the things that are absolutely necessary let alone the pleasure projects i've picked up. here's a quick update on the goings-ons in my life: (by the way, those pictures are of me eating mashed cauliflower which is supposed to be a healthier substitute for mashed potatoes. not nearly as tasty but definitely edible and didn't require me to peel potatoes. i'm a fan.)
1. finished taping templesmash episode 4. had a blast. i'll post the link so you can watch it online as soon as the video is finished.
2. had our final improv show for the year.
3. liz til came to visit.
4. went to the rittenhouse square festival thing. saw a thousand cute babies.
5. finished my classes! second semeseter of sophomore year = almost totally done. went so fast.
6. made callbacks for two PHIT teams- ended up making one of them. (brand spankin' new team- i'm very excited to be working with new people and learning and growing and this all sounds super corny. but so true.)
7. had an interview with xpn world cafe for a programming internship- got the internship! super exicted! i get to do fun things all summer! music research and band relations! yippee!
8. just in general, i've been having a blast. i'm so in love with all the people around me. it's such a good time in my life. i feel like i've really hit my stride. i'm motivated and doing things and my goals seem achievable. i'm really beginning to see my life take shape at this point- or at least see a clear outline of what i want. i'm open to new possibilities and very confident in my self. this semester has been busy and stressful and tiring but wonderful. i hope it stays like this forever.
