so here's the deal: christine and i both have internships in the city for the summer (christine is interning here and i'm interning here; both are pretty baller) we're renting from my friend who is in india with her roommate. the location of the place is incredible- right in the heart of the italian market, above a mexican flower shop, two blocks from the famous pats&genos cheesesteaks. the rooms are big and we're enjoying having our own space (even if there isn't any air conditioning and we have to sit on the roof to get internet, which is what i'm doing now.) the problem was that the apartment's previous tenants were not very meticulous cleaners (the polar opposite in fact) and it was filthy when we moved in. not 'a few dust bunnies in the corner'; like legit 'armless monkey's lived here and then died and things rotted' filthy. cleaning was a nightmare and took forever; we still can't walk around barefoot without the soles of our feet turning completely black. there were bags of flour and cereal open; things spilled everywhere including something purple and congealed at the bottom of the fridge; and mouse turds everywhere. our rodent friends are still present though their food source has been severely cut. everything is sticky- i think it will always be sticky.

oh. god. i don't think i can visit if your space is looking like this. i may projectile vomit. which would be sad because than there'd be more to clean.

ReplyDeleteNO NO NO! it's wayyyyy cleaner now! we cleaned for like a week straight... but seriously, it was pretty disgusting.
ReplyDeleteDEAR GOD! That looks terrifying. However, that's a great spot! I think there's a park kind of near you...? Hang out there! It looked fun when I was walking past and pinning for large spaces of grass.
