grillmastahs

it's so odd to be away from my family on holidays- even small ones like memorial day. we usually have some type of cookout with family and friends and it makes me a little sad to miss out on that stuff. but despite the fact that i'm moving away from old traditions, i'm building new ones with other people i love. yesterday we decided to buy a crapload of vegetables and fruits and grill some kebabs at laura and sarah's house. they just have one of those tiny little baby grills (though i'm one to talk considering the only thing i have is a george foreman) but everything turned out baller. laura also made some sort of pasta salad with italian dressing and artichoke hearts and peas. for dessert we had grilled fruit (pears! apples! pineapples! peaches!) with french vanilla ice cream. we played nerdy word games and chicken noodle soup for the teenage soul: the board game (i shit you not- this actually exists. and it's exactly what it sounds like. super emotional/dorky questions geared towards teens.) it was nice to catch up with that posse and just relaxxxxxxx- i feel like i'm getting better at that.

christine and i then returned home to our apartment- in which we haven't seen any rodents for many days, but which is now hotter than jonathan taylor thomas in 1996. in a volcano. in God's oven. i think i'm literally baking. i really don't have a problem with the heat all that much (i've gotten used to the constant layer of sweat coating my body) it's just that i'm not nearly as productive as i could be. the heat just makes me pass out. i'm napping like a maniac. speaking of which- i'm getting friggin' tired now. off the roof. into the oven. into bed. break.

  1. Aw, I'm glad you're having fun in Philly!

But I'm sorry your apartment is an inferno. Maybe that will keep rodents away?
