i went shopping for my hp costume this morning at salvation army. bought a new tie and velvet-y vest. i think i'm just going to go as hermione. mostly because i mended my house elf and i want to hand out spew badges again. (i felt so popular when i handed them out at the book release- entire gaggles of twelve year olds were coming up to me asking for them. it was like i was the cool popular kid. only instead of money and a hair straightener, i had a stuffed house elf and buttons. sigh. only in the land of hp fandom. it's a thing of beauty.)
while at salvation army, i also found a sweet new photo album (i've been collecting them and putting my pictures in them. i figure by the time i get my own place, i'll have enough that i can fill a whole shelf with them. scenic old school albums with pictures only found in their physical form. i like it.) and a yellow mug with birds on it (sucker for mugs. and birds). AND i swear, the thrifting gods have a crush on me or something, because they sent me the best valentine ever today in the form of an embossed corderoy skirt (it gets better) that is the EXACT one i was looking at in pittsburgh but decided not to buy. AND this one was only $2.99! which is cheaper than $10.00! by $7.01! i owe them a big sloppy metaphorical kiss.
i also worked with a new girl at the beanery today. we started off a little rocky and awkward- and by rocky and awkward, i mean that she had an attitude and i was scared of her. but she warmed up to me and we ended up talking the entire shift. she's this tiny little girl, straight hair, really pretty but she's (as she put it) "a popular tough ghetto bitch". she has a one-year old daugher, did time in juvy (juvie? juvvy? she was in kid jail) for getting in a fight with her mom, she has all kinds of drama in her life- just so many things. she's definitely sassy (and by sassy i mean if you disrespect her, she will call you out, then call you names that would make a sailor blush, all while taking out her earrings and removing her shoes so she can beat the shit out of you) but she's also really sweet. if you're nice to her, she's nice to you and by the end of the shift i really liked her. maybe i can be part of her posse. i can hold her earrings. and her baby. while she's pulverizing people who look at her the wrong way.
i wanna meet this popular tough ghetto bitch.... i feel as though we could become really close friends. srsly.... im not joking.
