i know it's been a while. i know i've neglected you bloggy boo, but i'd like to place a large portion of the blame for my absence on the awesome spring break roadtrip mis amigos and i took. that's right- seven days, six girls, five cities, four powerhouse drivers, three thousand miles total, two nights spent sleeping in the van, and one goal. texas. for no real reason except for the fact that we've never been to texas before. so why not?
our first stop was nashville. after twelve hours in the car, our adorable gay concierage at the marriott still told us we looked 'put together'. apparently his definition of 'put together' is sweatpants and cowboy boots, with drool crusted to the corners of our mouths from all the car naps. regardless, we fell in love right away. we went to a replica of the parthenon, stopped in a zillion cowboy boot stores, fell in love with the suspender-wearing man behind the candy counter at diana's, visited the capital and the ryman auditorium, saw jill jack at bluebird cafe, saw my name is john michael and trainwreck on the outskirts of the city (a hilarious musical evening complete with drunken, dancing heckler- look up both bands. they were both incredible.), buying prints from hatch show print shop, and gorging ourselves on pancakes at the pancake pantry (i had the sweet potato pancakes with cinnamon cream syrup. i start to salivate just thinking about them. so. good.). we were there for less than 48 hours, but sweet goddamn we did a lot.
nashville- thank you for hosting us. we really did eat our way through you. we loved all the honky tonks and confederate flag souvenirs. you were the best first stop, encompassing the true southern spirit and giving us a preview of all the magic that was to come. in the words of tommy the flamboyant marriott employee, you were very put together. we'll be back real soon.
Clever countdown of roadtrip elements!
ReplyDeleteTommy was a very good liar, we did NOT look put together.
